Happy Birthday, Sister No. 1!

I baked some Toblerone cupcakes yesterday. I got the recipe from TheRedDeer, which is a really lovely blog by the way. And her little munchkin is oh-so-cute! Anyway, I only followed the recipe for the vanilla and Toblerone cupcakes. I made a normal buttercream frosting with Toblerone added into it, instead of the Swiss Meringue Buttercream there. I have yet to try making SMBC though I really really would like to. I didn't this time because of two reasons. One, I had run out of eggs and I was just too lazy to go buy them (even though the shops are only 5 mins' walk away) and two, it was quite a hot day. But SMBC is definitely on my to-do list!

Moving on, I also didn't cut out a well in the cake to fill it with the frosting, as done so there. Again, I was too lazy (YES, it's that dreaded L-word again! If you are new reading this, please refer to our very first post! :P). Other than it being a bit too sweet (I think I put too much Toblerone into the frosting), it was really yummy.

These are dedicated to sister no. 1, who is celebrating her birthday in London.

Happy Birthday, Sis! I hope you're having a jolly good time! :)

MIA

Yes, I do realise that I've been missing in action for about two weeks. No, I haven't been on holiday (unfortunately). I've just been.........um, lazy. And there were other stuff (in my head, sad to say) going on. I've had a few orders of my chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting and other than those, I haven't really been baking. Oh, except that one time when I went to a friend's place. But that didn't work out so well as the frosting was really too sweet and I think my 'friends' didn't really enjoy them. I usually don't like my frosting too sweet either but I don't know what happened there. Oh, well!

I've been really 'out of it' lately. I had a minor accident a couple of weeks ago - I actually reversed into a PARKED car. I honestly don't know where I was then. Luckily, it was really minor. And then a few days later, as I was measuring ingredients for the chocolate cupcakes, I think I measured something wrongly as the cakes turned out very different from our usual fluffy and moist chocolate cupcakes. So I had to bake them all over again. I don't even know what I measured wrongly. Again, I don't know where my mind was. *sigh*

On a different note, last week, my almost six-year-old (he'll be six in two and a half weeks' time!) and I went on a Kids Fondant Cupcake Decorating Workshop. We learned how to make ladybirds, bees, beetles, turtles and elephants. Oh, and a rainbow. I have to say, it's A LOT of work. I don't think lazy me will be making these anytime soon.......hehehe. But it was fun, while it lasted. A tad too long (three hours!) for the kids though.

Note: There is nothing 'wrong' with the elephant's eyes. My son made them and when everyone asked him why the eyes look so funny, he said, "It's WINKING!" :D

OOA

What does OOA mean???

Out Of Action!

Jakarta Frosted is going away for a couple of weeks. Thus, there will be no baking nor posting for awhile...

Actually, I have just been thinking. When I move out of Jakarta, I can't call myself Jakarta Frosted anymore! I should have chosen a more universal name!
Well...I will decide what to do when the time comes...

Happy Holidays!

Yes. The whole of Jakarta will be "shutdown" for about a week during the Lebaran festivities. Traffic - for once...will be smoooooooth sailing!

120 Cupcakes

Had an order for 120 cupcakes from a nice lady....but not all at one go.
She said that my cupcakes were the yummiest that she has tasted!
Boy! Was I happy about that comment.

This is the most recent order for 60 cupcakes, i.e. today. The cupcakes are packed into 10 boxes to be given as gifts. For this batch, she wanted to have some BLUE and WHITE. I was abit apprehensive about doing WHITE. But I think the WHITEs turned out pretty well. Don't you think?

I know I should have lined all the cupcakes together, before I put them in the boxes for a photograph. But space was a constraint and it would be too troublesome.... Maybe next time.

This batch of 10 boxes were for last Thursday.

BTW, this lady had a taste of my cupcakes from here.

Best Seller!

I have to say, our chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting are our best sellers. Well, for Singapore anyway. Most of my orders consist of at least a dozen of these. And the reason I don't post them every single time is that they, well, look the same :p I always just do a swirl with some chocolate pearls (Valrhona chocolate pearls, no less!) on top. And I don't colour them because they are the nice peanut butter brown and it's not easy to colour anyway :)

I had an order for five and a half dozen of the above-mentioned delectable cupcakes and banana cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting (which are heavenly too, by the way). A lady ordered them for her staff (I would like to have a boss who gives me cupcakes. Lucky staff!) and so I put a blue flower on the banana cupcakes as blue is their company colour.

Smiley Faces Cupcakes

I was feeling kinda down lately, so I decided to make these smiley faces cupcakes to cheer myself up. I did cheer up for a while, until I realised that I had already eaten three! *Gulp*

These are banana cupcakes with lemon buttercream frosting.

Happy Teachers' Day Cupcakes (Edited)

It was Teachers' Day today here. It's usually a school holiday but this year, the boys' school decided that they will have the holiday on Monday, so that they get the long weekend off.

I wasn't very well-organised and I didn't have a cake board that was big enough to have 'teachers' on one row. And I didn't have enough time to lay them all out nicely before I took a picture.

When I brought them to school, one teacher actually took them out of the box and laid them all nicely on the table to take pictures. Maybe I should ask for her copy? Then again, I think I'll just make do with this one.

I did end up asking the teacher for her copy, so here it is!

Do they look PURPLE??

I have an order for 18 cupcakes from my hubby's colleague's friend. Wah! Seems like a mouthful, huh? Since she did not have any preference in colour (she didn't want PINK :-D ), I thought I'll use OUR colour, i.e. PURPLE. However, I don't know whether it's the flash or what, but somehow they don't look PURPLE.

Cupcakes all lined-up
6-in-a-Box

Boxes all-tied up with PURPLE ribbons

Actually I made 2-dozen cupcakes. Boys came back from school, saw that I was baking cupcakes and had one each for snack. I'm surprised that they are NOT yet fed-up of eating cupcakes. They practically eat cupcakes everyday!
