Lavender Cupcakes

They actually tasted really nice! Both icing and sponge were lavender-infused, though it's more obvious in the icing. You can't quite see it in the photo, but it actually had a lovely lavender/lilac colour (sister no. 2's favourite colour) to it!

Happy belated birthday, Sister no. 2!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to dear OLD me, Happy Birthday to meeeeeeee! :)

I just wanted to post on my birthday presents which I received early from Sisters No. 3 and 4. I had wanted to bake my own birthday cake from a recipe from one of the books but I didn't in the end. A few years ago, if somebody had suggested that I bake my own birthday cake, I probably would've balked at the idea. But now, and I'm sure this has got to do with aging *gasp*, I'm very comfortable with the thought of baking my own birthday cake.

Why didn't I then? Well, my hubby went out and bought me an ice-cream cake. At first, I thought "It's ice-cream. It's not the same. We can have cake AND ice-cream". Moreover, I had already bought all the ingredients. But then, my older son had a birthday party to go to in the afternoon and of course, he would have cake there. And I thought that's just too much cake for him in one day (not to mention the ice-cream, pancake and various other desserts he had during our buffet lunch!). So I decided not to make the cake. Maybe next year!

Honey Loaf

Decided to bake something a little different. Tried this Honey Loaf recipe from Rachel Allen's bake book. Panicked a little because the recipe asked for 3oog plain flour, but i only had 200g. Tried to be smart and add self-raising flour, and overdid it as well. The taste of the honey really came out nicely, but due to my flour mishap, was a bit dry :(. Oh well, still went well with a nice cup of tea :).

OOA

What does OOA mean???

Out Of Action!

Jakarta Frosted is going away for a couple of weeks. Thus, there will be no baking nor posting for awhile...

Actually, I have just been thinking. When I move out of Jakarta, I can't call myself Jakarta Frosted anymore! I should have chosen a more universal name!
Well...I will decide what to do when the time comes...

Happy Holidays!

Yes. The whole of Jakarta will be "shutdown" for about a week during the Lebaran festivities. Traffic - for once...will be smoooooooth sailing!

Cupcake Stall @ School Fair

Here's our cupcake stall @ my boys' School Fair..

What was in store?
- Vanilla Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting
- Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
- Banana Cupcakes with Lemon Frosting
- Oreo Cupcake Cones with Buttercream Frosting
- Jam Muffins

One important thing that I learnt today...it's the adults that go for the cupcakes. NOT the kids. I seriously thought it would be the kids, thus have iced most of my vanilla cupcakes with kiddy decor like dinosaur gummies, sharks, gummies in the shape of burgers/hotdogs and teddy bears.
I guess... NEXT TIME, I'll just pipe swirls, stars and rosettes to cater for the little kid in all of us.
:-)

Nevertheless, I'm quite happy with today's sales... enjoyed myself both at the stall and under the champagne tent!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

And I hope you had a deliciously frosty time enjoying the cupcakes!
