Birthday Cupcakes

This was an order from my hubby's colleague. He had the chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting and really liked it. And so he ordered some for his little girl's third birthday. I wasn't sure what colour would go with the light peanut butter brown but I was quite sure girly pink wouldn't. I finally decided on orange. I hope the little girl enjoyed her birthday cupcakes.

In Memory of our Beloved Brother

Today would've been our brother's 30th birthday.

We love you and we think of you always!

Sprinkle, Sprinkle, Little Stars

Haha, I'm just being lame (re. the title). I made these for my six-year-old's music school today. There was some sort of exhibition for kids (basically enrichment classes!) and he was one of five violinists selected to perform. So I made these for the other musicians. I admit that it was a really shoddy job! I don't know why the buttercream turned out really really soft. And I didn't have enough! So I just flat-frosted them and dumped a lot of sprinkles on top! :P

More chocolate and peanut butter!

Nuff said.

End-of-Season Party

Today was the last soccer game of the season for S2's team. And one of the coach had graciously offered to host a party for the team and families. I couldn't exactly show up empty-handed. So this was what I brought... Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream.
Initially, I wanted to craft individual soccer jerseys from fondant with each team member's jersey number and maybe write down their names on the individual cupcakes. Then I got too lazy, and thought of printing the jerseys from my computer and stick them onto the cupcake with toothpicks. Even that, I was too lazy to do. And decided to have wordings. When the time came to make the cupcakes, I was a real lazy bum. Lazy to even do fondant cut-outs of the letters.
:-P

Green Tea Cupcakes

Yes, it looked like I had gone AWOL again. Well, I have been baking but they were the same stuff that I always do, so no point in posting them. But the other day, I decided to make green tea cupcakes. I had wanted to make them for a while but just never got round to it.

I looked through ALL my cupcake books but I couldn't find a recipe for green tea cupcakes. So of course I googled it. Oh, sorry, I did a Google search on it (is that right?). There were a few and I chose one from here. I halved the recipe and made 12 cupcakes. The cake was soft and fluffy but I couldn't really taste the green tea. Same with the frosting, and it was waaaaaay too sweet for my liking. You can't see it in the picture but the frosting was a very very pale green. The pictures on the website where I got the recipe from all had very nice green colour. Not sure if it was all natural?

If I make this again, I think I will increase the matcha powder in both the cake and frosting and reduce the icing sugar. Hmmm.....maybe it could be the brand of my matcha powder too. I'm sure that would affect the taste and colour of the cupcakes. Anyway, I WILL try this again. Someday.

CNY orders

Had a total of three orders over two weeks during the CNY period and I am swearing off cupcakes!! Haha.......just kidding. =P My first order was for a hundred mini chocolate cupcakes. 50 with chocolate frosting and the other 50 with peanut butter frosting. Didn't take a photo of that coz I was crazy busy with rushing them off.

Second order was also a hundred mini chocolate cupcakes but this time, it's all with peanut butter frosting. Friend wanted to give to relatives and requested it to be packed in 20s so had 5 boxes in total.

Then another friend ordered ten vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and I gave her two free to make a dozen. Thank goodness my eldest sister was in town that day and she helped me with the frosting; if not, I probably would have gone mad rushing it! Thanks Cheh!
